Chapter One: Two Sisters, Two Strangers

The night was dark as Storm and Christine walked down a sidewalk. They had just come back from a movie and were on their way home. Storm got into the car and unlocked Chris' side to let her in. After both got into the car, Storm put the key in the ignition and was about to start the engine. Chris rolled down a window to let the cool night air into the car. From out of nowhere Chris suddenly found herself staring down the barrel of a gun.

"Get out of the car bi*ch!" The gunman yelled. "Look, take whatever you want but leave my sister and I alone!" Storm cried with fear. "We gonna take something all right! Now get out of the damn car!" the gunman yelled. Soon there was another man on the other side of the car, pointing a gun at Storm. Chris could feel the door being ripped open and she forced out of the vehicle. "Look, do what you want with me, but leave my sister alone!" Chris shouted.

"Shut up!" The thug barked and violently turned Chris around. He held her down on her stomach. She looked through her tears and yelled to Storm. "Let my sister go, and you can have me!" "Chris no!" "We ain't letting either of you go until we're done with you! Now shut up and do as you're told. You fight me, and I'll have your sister's head air conditioned!"

"Leave her alone you bastard!" Storm cried. She struggled as the man who held her at gunpoint tied her up with a rope. Chris was held down by the first gunman. He forced up her skirt and ripped at her undergarments. She screamed in pain as she felt a piercing pain between her legs. "Ohhh, yeah baby. Ohh yeah!" The man groaned as he continued to violate her. So caught up in his lust, he didn't notice a giant hand wrap around the back of his throat. As the second gunman prepared to fire, another stranger attacked him.

The first gunman was ripped away from Chris and slammed into the car hood. Chris fell to her knees shaking with pain and fear. She looked up to see a massive mountain of a man standing beside her. Because it was dark, she couldn't see him very well. Storm saw another figure, almost as tall as the first stranger. She could not make out his features as well, but could make out the form of a mask that covered his face. He knelt down beside Storm and untied her. She backed away from him for a moment and then ran to her sister's side. She too could see the first stranger, and then the second coming to stand beside him.

"She'll be all right. Let me pick her up." A deep, rasping voice said. Storm was hesitant. Her sister had just been raped. She wasn't about to let anything else happen to her. "It's all right. My brother and I mean you no harm." Said the other stranger, rasping from under the mask. Storm looked at the two towering figures and hesitantly let the first one pick Chris up. "Come with us. We'll take you somewhere you will both be safe."

Chapter Two: Safe

Storm watched the first stranger pick Chris up into his massive arms. A moonbeam shown down upon him. Chris looked up and saw the most beautiful clear green eyes she had ever seen. She could feel the soft, long auburn hair as it brushed against her face. Her eyes still widened with fear, the stranger spoke to her. "It's all right. No one will harm you now." He rasped. Chris didn't know what to make of this massive man, only that he only had intentions of getting her to safety. Storm looked at the stranger's brother.

"Where will you take us?" She asked. The masked stranger looked down at her. "My brother and I live in an old mansion not too far from here. There you and your friend can be safe." "She's my sister." Storm replied. She followed the two giant brothers as they led her and her sister to the house they spoke of. Within a few moments, the small band reached the old house. It looked a bit run down, but the two brothers were content with it. The older brother carried Chris into a bedroom and laid her down upon a bed. Storm followed along side the younger brother and stood at Chris' side.

The older brother turned on a light. Chris was mesmerized by what she saw. He was truly a giant of a man. She could see the long dark hair as it flowed down his shoulders. He had a muscular body and a pale complexion. He was, to Chris, the most handsome man she had ever seen. He knelt down beside her checking her over for injuries. "Are you hurt?" He asked. "I was raped. That man would have hurt me worse if you hadn't come along. Who are you?" Chris inquired. "I am known as the Undertaker. This is my younger brother, Kane."

"My name is Chris. That is my sister Storm." As Chris spoke, thunder began to rumble outside. "Rains are coming." Said Kane. "I am returning to my room. Yell if you need anything." "Undertaker, your brother, why does he where a mask?" Storm asked. Undertaker's eyes suddenly grew sad at the mention of his younger brother. Storm saw his change in mood. "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have asked." "Please, forgive me that I have not explained my brother's condition. It is a long story that I don't like to talk about. It is late. Your sister needs rest. I will be in the room next to Kane. Come and get me if you need anything."

Chris nodded and tried to go to sleep. Storm sat at her side stroking her sister's hand. "It'll be all right dear sister. I think these men mean us no harm. But I wonder why Kane wears a mask, and why it seemed to make Undertaker so depressed when I mentioned it." "I don't know Storm. All I know is that they have brought us here where we are safe. I'm going to try to sleep now. Maybe a good night's rest will help me forget what happened." "All right sister. I'll be over there in that chair if you need me."

Chapter Three: Compassionate Hearts

Storm tried to sleep in the easy chair that she'd situated herself in. She saw that Chris was fast asleep. She silently got up and crept out of their room. She could not stop thinking about Kane, and wondering why he wore a mask. And why it made Undertaker so reluctant to talk about that reason. As quietly as she could, Storm tiptoed to Kane's room. She saw the door was wide open, and Kane was asleep. She saw the mask lying on the floor next to his bed. What did he look like? Storm crept up to where Kane slept. He stirred hearing the floor creak beneath him. "Who's there? Brother, is that you?" Kane asked reaching for his mask.

"Kane, it's me Storm." Storm whispered. This seemed to frighten Kane and he quickly reached for the mask to cover his face. "No. Please, don't come any closer. I don't want you to see me." "Kane, please, don't cover your face. Please let me see you. Please, tell me why you wear a mask." Storm pleaded. Kane tried to choke back the tears that started to form in his eyes. Storm could hear a choked sob as Kane tried to hold it back. "Kane, I don't mean to upset you. I just want to know why you wear that mask, and why your brother became so sad when I asked him about you?"

"It was an accident." Said a deep voice. Storm spun around to find the Undertaker standing in the doorway. "20 years ago, mine and Kane's parents were killed in a fire. He was terribly burned. His father, his real father, had raped our mother. To keep from going to jail and from losing his son, he set fire to our parents' home and tried to frame me for it. Kane was brainwashed by him for a long time. It's only been with the past while that my brother and I have grown close again." Undertaker explained.

Storm stepped closer to Kane. Kane drew back afraid to let her see him. "No, please Kane, don't hide your face from me. Please, let me see you." "No. I'll frighten you if you see my face." Kane protested. Storm walked up to him, and gently put her hand upon his. She pulled the mask away and looked at Kane's face. It was scarred from the fire and years of plastic surgery. Storm looked at him feeling not one bit of fear. "Kane, it's all right. Your face doesn't frighten me. I don't think it looks that terrible." Storm said kindly. Kane looked at this young woman in amazement. "I don't think you're ugly at all. Believe me, I've seen far worse." Storm said.

"NOOO!" A scream came from Chris' and Storm's room. Storm spun around in terror. "Chris!" She yelled. She, Undertaker and Kane ran to see if Chris was all right. She sat up in her bed crying and shaking. Storm ran to her side and put her arms around her. "Chris, it's all right. It was just a nightmare. It was just a nightmare." Storm said trying to comfort her sister. Chris trembled violently. She could feel a terrible pain in her lower body. Feeling overwhelming concern for her, Taker rushed over to Chris. "Storm, go with Kane into the kitchen. Get me a rag and put it under cold water." He said.

Storm followed Kane into the kitchen and did as the Undertaker asked of her. He took Chris' shivering body into his arms and cradled her. "Shhh. It's all right now. You're safe. You're safe here. No one will harm you." He said gently. Storm returned with Kane. She gave Taker the cold rag and he gently placed it on Chris' forehead. Storm sat at the other side of the bed. "It'll be all right Chris."

Chapter Four: A Loving Soul

Kane left the room and went back to his own. He reached for his mask and put it back on. The moon shown down upon him, casting it's silver beam upon his red outfit. He thought about Storm, and how kind she had been in the past few moments. He heard footsteps behind him. He turned around to find Storm in front of him. He looked down, almost feeling ashamed that she had seen him.

"Kane, are you all right?" She asked warmly. "Where is my brother?" Kane asked trying to avoid the subject he knew Storm was about to bring up. "He's still with my sister. Kane, you don't have to hide your face from me. If it means anything at all, I think it's a very handsome face. I mean that." Storm said, walking over to Kane. She sat down upon his bed and asked him to sit beside her. "I'm sorry about what happened to you. It must have been horrible what your father did to you."

"He always told me that he was the only one who loved me. He was the only one who would accept me. He said the rest of the world would destest and mock me if they saw my face. He tried to make my brother hate me. He made me hate my brother. When it was my father who was the true evil." Kane said, tears beginning to fall from his eyes. Storm could sense his sorrow and put her hands on his red and black mask. She slid it up off of his head to see his pale blue-grey eyes full of tears. She put her small hands upon his scarred face. "It's all right Kane. I don't think you're a bad person. You were just a victim of your father's cruelty." Storm said putting her arms around Kane's massive chest.

"Storm," Kane said. "Storm, you really think I'm not that terrible?" "No. I believe you have a good heart within you. It was your father that tried to corrupt it. But he hasn't prevented you and your brother from becoming a family again. That proves you have a great deal of strength in your heart." Kane found himself putting his massive arms around Storm. "Storm, I'm sorry about what happened to your sister. My brother will take good care of her while you both are here." "I know." Storm sighed, looking up at Kane.

Chapter Five: A Tortured Past

Chris finally managed to calm herself down. Taker looked at her seeing the terrible pain she was in. He could sense the emotions running through her mind, fear, physical pain, humiliation, and anger. He looked into her deep brown eyes and gently wiped her tears from her face. "It will be all right. No one will harm you here. My brother and I won't allow it." Taker said in a firm but reassuring voice. Chris gazed into his crystal green eyes, seeing sadness there. "Why do you look so sad? You became very depressed at the mention of your brother Kane." She asked innocently. "If you don't want to talk about it, I understand."

Taker looked at Chris for a moment. He let out a sad sigh and began to speak. "It happened over 20 years ago. My mother and my father were killed in a horrible fire. For a long time, I was lead to believe that Kane had died with them. My ex-manager used to be my father's apprentice. He had taken Kane and raised him without me knowing about it. He told my brother that I had set the fire that killed our parents. He had been terribly burned. That is why Kane wears a mask, to hide his face. Then, after I found out that my brother was still alive, the man who's name I cannot even say pitted us against each other. It was then that I found out he had raped my mother. That this man I despise above all men was my baby brother's real father." Taker explained. "It took time to make Kane finally realize that our parents and myself were not the true evil, but Kane's real father was. It has not been easy for him these past few months. He's been so confused and angry, as have I."

"I'm so sorry. It must have been horrible carrying that all those years." Chris said, her heart going out to the dark older brother. "I was normal once. I was a normal young boy who would have grown up into a normal young man, had it not been for ... him. Now, because of him, I am the creature you see before you." Chris sat up, but could not stay upright because of the pain she felt in her lower body. She tried so hard not to cry, but the pain was so intense, she could not help it. "God, this pain is ... I feel like that bastard ripped me in two. Damn him, damn him! I was innocent until he got a hold of me!" Chris yelled and began crying again.

The thought of this beast who had taken a young woman's innocence made Taker's blood boil. It made him think of his mother, and the humilation she must have endured at the hands of her husband's assistant. He put his arms around Chris and pulled her to him. "Shhh. There now, it's all right." He whispered, cradling her in his massive arms. She buried her head against his shoulder, Her lower body cringing still feeling the pain of her attack.

Taker looked into Chris' eyes, touching her face gently. She felt herself growing sleepy, as if he were putting her into a trance. "Don't be frightened." Chris could hear his voice deep within her mind, though his lips never moved. "I'm putting you into a trance so you'll be able to sleep. You'll feel no pain now." Chris' eyes grew heavier and heavier. Soon, her eyes closed completely and she soon drifted off to sleep. "Sleep now little one. You're safe here. Your sister is safe. Kane and I will let nothing happen to either of you. I promise you that."

Chapter Six: A Dark Guardian

Taker watched Chris as she slept. She was a little thing compared to his monstrous height. Her skin was pale, as if she had not gone out into the sun in sometime. But he could see that she did go out everyonce in a while from the freckles all over her arms. He noticed that her bangs had fallen across her face. Kindly he pushed them back. She had long auburn hair, almost the same shade as his. Hers was slightly longer than his. It went down her back, almost passed it. She had lips the shade of a pale pink rose. It gave him some relief to know she finally slept peacefully.

He almost regretted not doing more harm to her attacker. He did regret it. He regretted that he hadn't killed the bastard. No woman deserved to be abused so heinously, especially one who was innocent of men to begin with. He sat at Chris' side and gazed at her for a long time. She looked almost like a doll lying on the bed. Her skin so pale, and her hair and eyes so dark. She had the fullest eyelashes he'd ever seen on a girl.

He could sense so much sadness in her heart. He leaned over her, tempted to kiss her. But he got up resisting the urge. She'd been through so much already. She didn't need something serious right now. He would wait.

Chapter Seven: Comfort

Storm sat for several minutes trying to comfort Kane. "Kane, will you be all right?" Storm asked, rubbing Kane's huge shoulder. Kane looked at her and put his mask back on. "I.. will be all right now. Your sister, you should go be with her now. She will need you when she wakes up. Go now. I'll be all right." Kane said with a sad whisper.

Storm was hesistant to leave this sad, lonely giant in red, but knew that her sister would need her soon. As Storm got ready to exit Kane's room, he stopped her for a second. "Storm, ... thank you. No one but my brother and father have ever seen me without my mask. My father never much wanted to see my face. My brother has been the only one to see me as I really am and accepted me. You are the second. I will never forget your kind heart." Kane rasped lowering his head. Storm gave him a kind smile and went to be with Chris.

"She's sleeping peacefully now. I've put her in a trance so the nightmares would not disturb her. She'll awaken at sunrise. She will need you with her Storm. She's been through a terrible ordeal. Although I can sense so much more sadness in her heart." Taker said with a voice of concern. "She puts so much stress on herself. Our mother is a single woman working a very stressful job to support herself. Chris tried to help her out by taking care of the house and working herself. But she just got too stressed out. That's why our mom suggested she come to live with me. So she can have time away from all the stress. But she feels so much guilt for leaving her."

"She shouldn't. Your sister can only do so much. She needs to take care of herself first." "I try to convince her of that. But sometimes, she just can't help it." "Let her sleep through the night. In the morning, we can talk."

Chapter Eight: A Gentle Storm

Morning came as Storm sat at her sister's bedside. Taker and Kane stood with her as Chris opened her sleepy eyes. "Dear sister, are you all right?" Storm asked with concern. "I think so. What happened to me last night?" "It was a simple trance, nothing more." Taker replied. "You were in so much pain. I had to do something to ease all that bothered you so you could sleep."

"Thank you, for everything you've done for me and my sister Storm." Chris said sleepily. "I don't suppose we could stay here another night, at least until Chris has gained all her strength back." Storm asked. "You both may stay as long as you wish. It isn't as if my brother and I have company here. We keep to ourselves." Taker answered. "Thank you. This means a great deal to both of us." Storm replied and looked up at Kane.

She watched him leave for the kitchen. He quickly fixed himself something to eat and headed for his room. Storm watched him enter his room, and she quietly walked in after him. "Kane, may I stay with you for ahwile?" Storm asked warmly. Hesitant at first, but realizing he wanted her company, Kane nodded. Storm walked into his room and sat beside him. "I hope I don't make you uncomfortable by wanting to be in here with you. I just can't stand the thought of you having spent so much of your life in isolation. Storm said kindly.

"I'm not used to someone wanting to be with me. I guess it's all the influence my father put upon me." Kane replied. Storm looked up at Kane's face looking at the scars. She reached up and touched his cheek. "You didn't deserve to be treated the way you were. You're not terrible. You were just misunderstood."

Chapter Nine: A Maiden And A Dark Lord

Chris sat up in her bed, shaking off the trance that Taker had put upon her the previous night. She saw that he was still at her side. "It must get very lonely here for you and Kane, being all by yourselves." Chris said. "We cope with it. You and Storm are actually the first real company Kane and I have ever had. We shelter ourselves from the outside world. Some people would understand, others would not." Taker replied and saw Chris lower her head. "Little one, what is it you hold in your heart that causes you such pain? What is it that makes you so sad?" "So many things. I wouldn't know where to start."

Chapter Ten: Someone Else's Heart

Chris looked down. She had seen how the Undertaker had looked at her, saw the concern in his eyes, and saw something else that made her try to avoid his gaze. "Please understand and do not take offense that I look away from you, but, I would be unfaithful to my fiance if I saw the look in your eyes." She said looking down at the bed. That moment, Taker's heart sank. Another had claimed her affections. He could not interfere with her. She was close to the man who along with his brother had saved her and her sister Storm, but her heart belonged to another man. "I.. understand." Taker said sadly. "I'm sorry if I mislead you."

"It wasn't you. I .. sometimes tend to let myself get lost. Please, forgive me." "There was no harm done. But I'm engaged to be married. I could not be unfaithful to my future husband." Chris said feeling the Undertaker's sadness. She knew he was concerned about her, but had he so quickly fallen in love with her? Forget her, he thought to himself. She belongs to another. "I should go check on my brother. I have not heard from him in a while. I better make sure he and your sister are all right." Undertaker said and left Chris alone. He walked to Kane's room, but quickly slammed himself against the wall.

There was Storm, her arms around Kane, her lips on his. The sight, though he might have felt glad that his baby brother was finding love, was like a dagger of ice through his heart. Chris was engaged, Storm was falling in love with Kane. Taker was alone. He felt burning jealousy that he was the only one who had no one to hold. But, he felt it was his plight in life. To wander the Earth a dark, tortured soul, never knowing the warmth of love, true love. His heart ached so with loneliness that he swore he could feel one of his eyes swell with forming tear drops.

He went to his room as quickly as he could and slammed the door shut. He couldn't understand. What made him act like this? He wasn't prone to such jealousy or emotional outbursts. He felt such evil intentions within him, that he would seek out this suitor and do away with him. But the risk of breaking Christine's heart and having her hate him for the rest of her life quickly drove the demonic thought from his head. He loved her. Only known her for a few days, but he loved her still. But he could not cause her undue pain. So, he buried his head in his hands, choking back the tears. He would not let Chris, or anyone else for that matter, see him in such a state.

"Forget her. She loves someone else." He growled to himelf. But how could he deny what he felt for her? How could he just shut off his heart and forget that she'd ever met him, or that he'd met her. He knew the two sisters would not stay forever. How would Kane deal with Storm leaving? How would he deal with Chris leaving? The two brothers would deal with it. They would have to.

"Kane," Storm said, feeling sorrow in her heart. "My sister and I will have to leave you and your brother. My sister Chris is engaged, and the wedding will be in a few days. I hate to leave you." "You must do what is best for your sister." Kane rasped. "She has been through a terrible ordeal and will need you at her wedding. I only wish you could stay with me." Kane said, his voice full of emptiness, knowing Storm would soon have to leave him.

"Kane, I will come back to see you. I promise. I couldn't get you out of my mind if I wanted to. I want to come back to see you." Storm replied softly. "I almost wish your sister were not getting married." "But why? Why do you say that?" "I fear my older brother has taken a liking to her. I dare say, he may have fallen in love with her." Kane said, feeling concern for his older brother. "That is a problem." Storm said.

Chris walked into the room. "Sister, I think we need to go. It's daylight now. The wedding will be in two days. We need to get back to our home." Chris said. Storm nodded. "Kane, I meant what I said. After the wedding, I will come back here to see you." Chris looked into Taker's room. She saw him lying deathly still. "What has.." "Do not fear for him. He has only gone into a trance. It is his way, when something troubles him." Chris felt terrible guilt. Was she the cause of his emotional distress? She watched Kane and Storm walk into Chris' bedroom.

She walked up to the sleeping Undertaker and let a tear fall from her eye. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to be so much trouble." She said choking back a sob. Then she dried her eyes and walked to her sister. "We must go. Do you have a phone? I'll need to call a cab for my sister and I." Storm asked. Kane pointed to an old wall phone in the kitchen. Chris looked at the red clad giant. "Kane, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to cause your older brother pain."

"You have not. My older brother tends to let his heart dictate his mind. He will get over it." Kane said, looking to Storm. "We both wanted to thank you and your older brother for taking care of us. I hope that I may at least will be able to come back." "You will be welcome here. Both of you." Kane said.
