| The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures; he leads me beside still waters; he restores my soul. He leads me in right paths for his names sake. Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I fear no evil; for you are with me; your rod and your staff- they comfort me. Psalm 23: 1-4 |

| Tragedy struck the World Wrestling Federation on May 23, 1999 at their "Over the Edge" Pay-Per-View. It is believed that Owen accidentally pulled the release cord on his harness while moving his cape, but reports vary. Owen fell approximately 50 feet to the ring. He died soon after. We feel that the WWF handled this situation very well and with extreme sensitivity. Owen Hart was the youngest of Stu and Helen Hart's twelve children. He began his career with the legendary Stampede Wrestling in 1986. On May 27, 1988, Owen became the first westerner to hold the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship by defeating Hiroshi Hase on a tour with New Japan. Upon Owen's return to the States, the WWF showed interest in him. It was here that he gained his immense popularity. Owen won many prominent titles throughout his career, including: the Stampede International Tag Championship in 1986, the Stampede North American Championship 1987-88 (two times), the WWF Tag Team Championship on four occasions, and most recently, he was the two-time WWF Intercontinental Champion. He will be greatly missed by his wife, children, brothers, sisters, parents, relatives, co-workers, and fans. He dedicated much of his self and time to this sport that we all love. His death will leave a void in our hearts and his contributions will not soon be forgotten. |
