| Though Parore has been up and down the New Zealand order, everywhere from 3 to 8, and still has not found his slot in the batting order but he is still there and is still firing. The keeper from Auckland has represented New Zealand since the early nineties, and not only as a wicketkeeper. He has been in the team as just a specialist batsman at times, but he has been returned the gloves from former captain Lee Germon. He is now an established senior member of the side, though the road he has followed to get there has been rocky. Parore is referred to as the most technically sound and correct batsman in New Zealand in the present day, and plays spin bowling very well. Parore was also the protege` of Ian Smith, and quickly done a good job to fill in his shoes, when Smith retired after the 1992 World Cup. Though Parore's been out of the team, through injury, or being dropped, he's still the Black Caps keeper, and for the first time in a while appears to have no real contenders for the spot, that he has so skilfully made his own. |
