Chris Harris
Player Profile
Left hand batsman
Right arm slow-medium bowler
Canterbury
Born: 20th November 1969
Chris Harris excels in the one-day arena, and can't help but being a crowd-pleaser. Exceptionaly explosive in the last 10 overs, Harris is often left with the job of topping off the New Zealand innings by keeping the scoreboard ticking over, or trying to overhaul an oppositions target.
"Harry" is a familiar chant around the grounds of New Zealand, and he is the outstanding personality of the team.
His slow dribbly but very economical bowling has undone many of the worlds best batsmen, and it was only right that Harris's one hundredth one-day international wicket was a caught-and-bowled.
His enthusiasm in the field has earned him the post of one of the best fielders in the world, and last year he took out the International Cricketer of the Year for his contribution in the one-dayers. No doubt, his is the first name written down for any New Zealand one-day team.
Harris has only just now recieved another chance at test level in the South Africa series after such a long absense. After having missed out so many times, Harris will definetly make the most of any test opportunity he is handed.
And he seems to have New Zealand cheering him on all the way.
