Chris Cairns
Player Profile
Right arm medium fast bowler
Right hand batsman
Canterbury

Born:
13th June 1970
Even before his 1989 debut, Chris Cairns was dubbed a cricketer of pedigree because of his father Lance.
Chris is a more successful and technically correct batsman than his father, but both are famous for their powerful big-hittingshots. Chris even holds the record for most sixes in an innings - 9 - during his 157 against Kenya.
Though his career has been plagued with injury and his reputation off the field wasn't the best, Cairns is a consistant performer, and he just recently snared his 100th test wicket in Sri Lanka last year.
A quality allrounder, Cairns has two test centuries, including one against India this year, before a hamstring injury took him out of the remainder of the South African series.
His one-day 100 off 75 balls was a magnificent innings in front of his home crowd at Jade Stadium in his 100th one-day match. The crowd was on it's feet
as 23 hapless deliveries were smashed all over the park to get him from 50 to 100 in quick fashion.
No doubt he is a crowd-pleaser, and when he is fired up he is absolutely devestating. Hopefully injury will not prevent him playing, so
he can treat more crowds to his powerful shot-making and his dangerous bowling.
