Welcome to P'FUNKS
PARTY
I have often been asked, "P-FUNKOFF, why do you not have a homepage." The excuse that I was too busy was becoming virtually impossible to believe when those same inquisitive people would see me wasting my day away in The Lobby , my favorite online home. You really outta stop by sometime and say hello!! So without further adieu I present
ummmm.... *pitter patter of a drum roll*....mmmmmmmm....
ME
Let me save you the suspense...my name is Gabriel Pavey. I am 23 years old and currently living in Washington, DC. Despite working in the US Pentagon I have been lucky enough to escape the scandal (well most of it) that seems to haunt the residents of this town. Like most of the folk here...I am not a native Washingtonian. Originally, I am from Northern and Southern California, born and raised respectively.
You may say, "What brings a California boy to the East Coast?" That is simple. Promises of money, women and adventure. Oh, no I am not talking about the presidency for gods sake.
It was early 94' when I was approached stealthily by the lean, head shaven gentlemen in a tightly creased uniform while seated in the nearby Taco Bell injesting a few hundred fat grams. He spoke sharply and I couldnt but notice the difference between his disciplined demeanor and my lackadasical attitude towards life. Almost immediately, I was enraptured by his stories of "endz" to spendz , oversexed honeys , and exotic countries with 5 cent pitchers.
Shortly thereafter, I was riding a bus along with 54 or so others to Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego.
I have often found it in bad taste to tell boot camp horror stories. All that have been through it can attest that it can not be summarized with words. It is truly a unique experience in that it forces you into every feeling along the continium of human emotion. Grown men, hardened gang members....fall asleep weeping for their mothers....self-esteem deprived social outcasts swell with pride and stick out their chest as if they were the "man of steel."
You may ask...what is the significance? Well just like boot camp, life is a journey. We are continually being exposed to hardship. It is those hardships that make the will stronger and toughen the character of an individual. It can be argued that disadvantage breeds success. If success is, and I believe should be, measured not by where you come from....or where you end up...but by the difference of the two.
Let us use the parable that life is a journey. In our "journey," the road traveled is the span of our life. Along that road, we are befallen by the worst of hardships. Rocks, thorns and hot soil toughen our feet to the elements. Valley and hills are the learning experiences...we can grow equally from skipping through lush pastures or by trudging headlong through arid deserts. But it is those deserts or seemingly insurmountable cliffs...that make us appreciate those green fields that much more. In the end, the measure of ones life successes...is standing at that "scenic viewpoint" and see how far you have come.
Hmmmm...i really didnt mean to ruin what is supposed to be a PARTY by a philosophy lesson. If I got you thinking then that's great, if not...then how bout ya navigate the page and look for something a little more suitable to your interests. Nonetheless, thanks for stopping by!!!
