Made the center half position his own just after the Second World War, but could not hold onto it once Trevor Smith made such tremendous progress. Unusual in that he was probably the only Blues player to have been born in Japan. He was strong won his fair share of headers and could be classified as a 'blood and thunder' type of center half, who would win the ball at all cost when the opportunity arose. He died in January 1988.
