Student Manager Program
Rules to Follow:
1. Student managers are to report to every practice and
every game of the sport they are assigned to cover
during that sport's season.

2. Student managers are to report 1 hour before
practice and game/bus leave times.

3. Student managers will be expected to keep the
scorebook for their sport team and will be taught how
to do it.

4. Student managers are expected to wear the
appropriate clothing to sports events. Manager
shirts will be provided. A suit may be requied for
boys basketball.

5. A student manager must be responsible, dedicated,
reliable, and show good sportsmanship as a
representative of ZHS and the athletic department.

6. Student managers are expected to follow the athletic
policy.

7. Student managers are to help Mr. Stitt, Mr.
Fitzpatrick, and Mr. Smith with duties assigned to
them. In the absense of these people, the student
manager is to help the coaching staff.

8. A student manager must be willing to study and to
improve his/her grades. A 2.00 GPA is required of a
student manager.


Duties may include the following tasks
:
A. Collect balls and other equipment.
B. Collect and pass out uniforms
C. Wash laundry
D. Prepare field or court for practices and games
E. Set up water
F. Anything else, within reason, that an athletic staff
member may ask of you. A student manager is
always ready to help.

A student manager may earn a letter. This is based on fulfilling the requirements of a student manager and what level of sport they cover. The lettering process is just like that of an athlete.

The breaking of any of these rules is grounds for suspension or dismissal.

Student Aide (trainer) Program
Rules to Follow:
1. The student aide is required to work 4 days out of each week. The week will include the event of the sport he/she is covering, experience working with our athletes in the athletic training room and at practice. The days of the week in which they work are to be chosen weekly by the student and head athletic trainer.

2. The student aide
never takes the place of the head athletic trainer. The student aide is there to learn and to help make the athletic training room more efficient in its endeavors to take care of the athletes at Zanesville High School.

3. If the head athletic trainer is not present, then the student aide is to work under the direct supervison of the coach or adult responsible for our athletes.

4. The student aide is not to discuss the injury with the athlete's parents or the athlete. It is the head athletic trainer's or coach's (in the absense of the head athletic traner) decision.

5. If the student aide cannot report for his/her assigned day then he/she is to tell the head athletic trainer in advance notice so the day can be rescheduled. A students absence from school will be notice enough. If the days missed are not reported or made up the student can be dismissed from the program.

6. Student's responsibilities may include:
A. Maintenance of the training room
a. Cleaning the whirlpools
b. Preparing the field or court for competition
c. Stocking kits
d. Stocking cabinets
e. Stocking the taping tables
f. Cleaning tables
g. Mopping floors
h. Sweeping floors, etc
B. Traveling with our sports teams
C. Taping our athletes-based on experience and efficiency
D. Treating our athletes-based on experience and efficiency
E. Must be a level 1 student aide through the sports medicine class or after school curriculum.
*All of the above are done under the supervision of the head athletic trainer

7. Student aides must have a 2.50 accumulative GPA and must maintain that 2.50 GPA throughout high school to stay in the program.
