Competitions
Competition Format
Competitions will take place with dice as described in the "How the Club Works" section. Judging will take place over email with the judges. The virtual competitions will be based on real competitions and take place around the same time as the real competition. Entries will be decided as described below for various competitions.
Competition Entries
Entries for World, Four Continents, and European Championships will be decided under the real system for determining spots in those events, based on the results of the virtual championship the previous year. Entries for the first years' championships were decided based on the actual results from 1998 Worlds and Europeans, and at a maximum of three per country per discipline for Four Continents.
Entries for other international competitions or club competitions other than Grand Prix events may be requested by the skater's "owner", and they will be placed there if possible based on a three per country rule with each skater choosing one of the following: Nebelhorn Trophy, Finlandia Trophy, or Skate Israel. To enter one of these competitions, email me. Requests to skate in these events must be made by September 24. Entries for club competitions and any other competitions which will be held will be decided before the competition.
National championships will be held in all countries with two or more skaters in any discipline. Entries for Grand Prix events will be chosen by the owner of the skater, and they will be placed there as long as there are no more than three skaters already competing there from that country if the skater is from the host country or two if from another country. Each skater who signs up by October 1 gets to go to two Grand Prix events in the upcoming season. The only exception is that new ladies' skaters and those who placed 16th or lower at worlds or did not compete there will only be able to skate in one event. The Grand Prix events are Skate America, Skate Canada, Nation's Cup, Trophee Lalique, Cup of Russia, and NHK Trophy. If you are just signing up, send your top two requests (men and pairs) or top request (ladies) along with one or two backup choices to Rochelle by October 1. If you were a member as of August 29, your requests should be in as soon as possible.
Entries for the Grand Prix Final will be determined by the top six men and ladies in the Grand Prix, and the top five pairs. Skaters are given points based on their placements at the Grand Prix events they skate in. 12 points are awarded for a 1st place finish, 9 points for 2nd, 7 points for 3rd, 5 points for 4th, 4 points for 5th, 3 points for 6th, 2 points for 7th, and 1 point for 8th.
