French Open




The one grand slam that Pete had yet to win, and the press never let him forget it. At this point Pete had acknowledged shortcomings in his own fitness, and had moved to Orlando to be with his old trainer prior to the At&T Challenge. Pete also stated that he knew that it would take more than a few weeks to get himself up to the level of fitness he needed to be to win the French Open, so he just hoped for the best.

  • 1st round: Todd Martin, def. 6-4 6-3 6-3

    Dagger in the Heart: Ramon Delgado. It had taken two tight tie-breakers for Pete to defeat him at the AT&T challenge. Delgado avenged his loss, defeating Pete 6-7 3-6 4-6.
