A troublesome plantar wart on the bottom of his foot was affecting Pete's practice on hardcourts, so he had surgery to remove it on July 15th. He hoped to be able to enter a tournament in Los Angeles, but it took him longer than expected to recover from the surgery. He had to withdraw from the LA tournament and take a wildcard into the Dumarier Open. He came in not having played a match in a month.

Dagger in the Heart: Once again, Andre Agassi, not a player you want to face when you haven't played a tournament in a while. He lost to Agassi -6 1-6 2-6.
