Sybase Open

After an exhausting 1998, which saw Pete lose the #1 ranking twice, win his fifth Wimbledon title, and play a grueling end-of-the-year stretch to finish #1 a record sixth straight year, Pete found it beyond even his own considerable capabilities to prepare himself in time for the 1999 Australian Open. He opted to skip the Aussie, and start his season at the 1999 Sybase Open.
