SPREAD PUNT ALIGNMENTS AND ASSIGNMENTS

Protectors always count from the outside and the Ts must call the number of their man. The alignments and assignments for Spread Punt are: 1) Es- 10 yards from the T, on the LOS/sprint to the ball; 2) Us- 1 foot from the T, 2 yards off the ball/block #1, then cover; 3) Ts- 1 foot from the G, on the LOS/block #2, then cover; 4) Gs- 1 foot from the C, on the LOS/block #3, then cover; and, 5) C and FB- C aligns over the ball and FB aligns on the G to the side of the P's foot, 5 yards off the LOS/block #4, then cover. Note: the FB calls the C's assignment ("Rip," "Liz," or "Free"), then calls, "Ready." The C then pauses at least 1 second and snaps the ball. The FB's assignment is to block the opposite side of the C, or the same side vs. an overload (5 on one side). The C never blocks a man aligned headup. Any time the FB and/or C are free, they cover immediately.
SPREAD PUNT COVERAGE

The lanes for Spread Punt Coverage are: 1) Es- sprint directly to the ball; 2) Us- 5 yards from the T/contain; 3) Ts- 5 yards from the G; 4) Gs- 5 yards from the C; 5) C and FB- sprint directly to the ball; and, 6) P- trail the C/safety.
