Kicking Game Philosophy

DESIGN

The Big-Play Kicking Game is designed to: 1) optimize field position; 2) eliminate mistakes through simplicity and repetition; 3) create scoring opportunities or score itself; 4) control the momentum of the game; and, 5) be mirrored to the right and left.

STRATEGY

The guidelines for developing game strategy are: 1) maximize the potential for big plays; 2) exploit mismatches and hide weaknesses; 3) force the opponent to spend extra practice time in the kicking game; 4) have a special play every week; and, 5) ALWAYS play field position football.

SPECIAL TEAM GAME OBJECTIVES

Our special team game objectives are: 1) win; 2) no blocked kicks; 3) no turnovers; 4) no penalties; 5) field all fieldable punts; 6) convert all p.a.t.s and field goals under thirty seven yards; 7) force one bad kick or turnover; 8) average thirty seven net yards per punt; 9) return all kickoffs beyond the thirty five yard line; 10) make a first down on all punt returns; and, 11) hold the opponent inside the twenty five yard line on all kickoffs.
