Lost 3-2 on agg. to AS Roma in 1984, where they won the 1st leg 2-0 at Tannadice
with goals from Derek Stark and Davie Dodds
Fairs Cities Cup 1st Round (Now known as U.E.F.A Cup)
Fairs Cities Cup 1966/67
Defeated Barcelona 2-1 in The Nou Camp and 2-0 at Tannadice
in a famous 4-1 agg. win in their first ever entry to European
Competition in 1966. In the second round they played the mighty
Juventus and went out 3-1 on aggwith another famous Tannadice
victory defeating Juventus 1-0
U.E.F.A Cup 1981/82 season
After going down 2-0 in the first leg to Borussia Moenchengladbach
most people including a public statement by The Manager of the German
side saying his team have never been beaten after being 2 goals up after a first leg
in European competition. However United went on to hammer Borussia 5-0 with one
of the most devastating performances, with arguably the best ever goal to be
scored at Tannadice with Eamonn Bannon running nearly the whole length of Tannadice
to score the 5th goal
U.E.F.A Cup 1982/83 Season
Dundee United defeated PSV Eindhoven (3-1 on agg. - 2-0 in Eindhoven) and Werder Bremen
on their way to the Quarter finals where they were to go out unluckily to Bohemians of Prague
U.E.F.A Cup 1986/87 Season
Dundee United defeated Barcelona 3-1 on aggregate with a 1-0 win at Tannadice (Kevin Gallacher)
and a 2-1 win in the Nou Camp Stadium again , a feat they had achieved 20 years earlier with goals from
John Clark and Iain Ferguson. Surely no other team in Europe can boast 4 wins out of 4 in European
competition against the mighty Barcelona.
U.E.F.A Cup 1986/87 Season
After a disapointing 0-0 draw against Borussia Moenchengladbach in the semi-final 1st leg, most
people predicted the Germans to go through but United produced another devastating performance
to win 2-0 with goals from Iain Ferguson and Ian Redford right at the end to secure their place in the
final against IFK Gothenburg
Tennents Scottish Cup 1993/94 Season
Dundee United broke their Hampden hoodoo of losing Scottish Cup Finals with a 1-0 win over Rangers
with a goal in the 47th minute from Craig Brewster to give New Manager Ivan Golac a trophy in his first
year as United Manager.
