Top Returning Section 2 Class B Athletes


The section is going to be extremely competitive this year. Last year Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake won the "B" state title and finished 6th at the federation meet. They are currently ranked 4th in the federation going into the season. Queensbury comes back from a strong year of being ranked high in the Class B rankings last year. Scotia and Ichabod Crane also recieved State "B" Rankings last season. Albany Academy earned an honorable mention but just missed being ranked in the top 20 "B" teams of '99.

Here's the Top 15 Individuals

  1. Tyson Evenson-12 Avrill Park
    Tyson has the fastest time coming back from last year, in at 15:23 for the Saratoga St. Park 5K. He was last years Section 2 Class B Champion and earned 1st Team All State Honors with a huge 6th place finish in both the State Championship and State Federation Meet. He ran 4:22 in the mile this past spring.

  2. Chris Camp-12 Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake
    Camp returns with the 2nd fastest time coming back from last season with a 15:42 at Saratoga. He earned Suburban Council All Star Status, along with Section 2 Class B Allstar and a spot on the 7th Team All State team. He ran a 4:30 in the mile this past year. He was mainly the 1-2 man on Burnt Hills's State Championship team last year.

  3. Tyler Raymond-11 Scotia-Glenville
    Tyler and his brother form one of the most deadly 1-2 punches in all of Section 2. Tyler ran to a 15:53 last year and was one of the individual qualifiers for the state meet with a time of 16:10 at Sectionals. Tyler ran 4:22 in the mile this past spring which proves that he is a huge force to be reckoned with this coming season.

  4. Chris Gaulin-12 Queensbury
    Chris had a rough season this past spring but has proved himself last cross country season that he will be a top contender this year. He ran a 15:53 last year at the Foothills Council Championship and was mainly Queensbury's #1 man up until Sectionals where he had a tough race and failed to qualify for the State Meet.

  5. Seton McAndrews-12 Queensbury
    Seton ran a 16:01 last season at the Saratoga 5K. His Soph year he was well under 16 mins. He qualified last year along with his sophomore year for the State Meet and he will definitly be looking to be back under 16 mins. this season. He showed that he will be a top contender by running a 9:20 in the two mile at the eddy meet this past spring.

  6. Paul Widjeskong-12 Ichabod Crane
    Widjeskong qualified for the State Meet as an individual with fellow team mate (now graduated), Joe Pienta. He boasts a time of 16:04 and a track pr of 4:29 in the mile. He will be leading the Ichabod team this year.

  7. Dan Crespin-12 Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake
    Dan is one of those kids who is improving all the time. Last year he improved in leaps and bounds as he got his 5K pr down to 16:09. He ran a break through 2 mile at the Suburban Council Championships last spring with a 9:41. This will definitly make him able to go under the 16 min. mark this fall. Mainly Burnt Hills 3-4 man last year, Dan ran an amazing race and finished 1st for Burnt Hills at the State Championship and helped them win it all. He also achieved Suburban Council All Star Status.

  8. Ben Pangie-12 Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake
    Pangie qualified for the Empire St. Games this summer in the 10,000 meter run and finished a strong 4th place. His personal record at the Saratoga 5K is 16:18. He could turn some heads with the improvements he can make this fall.

  9. Todd Raymond-11 Scotia-Glenville
    The other Raymond brother runs a strong 16:23 as Scotia's 2nd man. He has run under 4:40 and 10:10 during his track seasons.

  10. Oliver Tassinari-12 Albany Academy
    Oliver's best may only be 16:39 but a break through spring track season could put him over the top in XC. Oliver ran an amazing 4:20 in the mile last year and a 1:57 800 m. at the Empire St. Games this summer. He will definitly be a force by the end of this Cross Country Season.

  11. Joe Douchane-12 Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake
    Joe's personal record is 16:44. Had a breakthrough race last year at the State meet for Burnt Hills and ran that race as their 5th man. He's a hardworker that comes on at the end of every year very strong.

  12. Jamie Maswick-11 Scotia-Glenville
    Also has a peronal record of 16:44. A strong 3rd man returning from Scotia's team.

  13. John Ellement-11 Queensbury
    Ellement ran a 16:45 last year. Solid time for a #3 man. If he gets his time down closer to Chris's and Seton's, Queensbury will be a force to be reckoned with.

  14. Ryan Pollock-12 Queensbury
    Pollock ran a 16:52 last year. This past spring he ran 1:57 in the 800 m. and qualified for the Outdoor Track State Meet.

  15. Kyle Rohne-12 Queensbury
    A solid 16:59 personal record which gets Queensbury's top 5 under the 17 min. barrier for people returning!

    Honorable Mention

    Ken Laskowski-12 Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake
    He was hurt most of last season, had a great beginning of the year until he was halted by his injuries. He came back by the end of the year despite his injuries and was still able to get down to 17:01. He could be right down there if he can controll his injuries.
