  • HINCKLEY'S FA CUP CAMPAIGNS 1909-38

After the demise of Hinckley Town the re-formed Hinckley United entered the FA Cup again in 1909. In 1913 the new side reached the fourth qualifying round after beating Grantham Avenue 3-1, eventually going out to Football League members Glossop North End. Between the wars Hinckley met League opposition just once - in 1923 when they hosted Grimsby in the fifth qualifying round. That year's competition also saw United defeat Nuneaton Town 7-3 at the Holywell.

The 1930s saw United struggle in the FA Cup. On five occasions they failed to get past the first game and in 1932 and 1937 they failed to field a side in the competition. Yet local fans were certainly entertained by some high scoring games. In 1933 Heanor Town handed out a 9-0 stuffing to United. Five years later the Hinckley lads returned the compliment by knocking out Heanor 8-0 in the first qualifying round.
