Definitions for the Traditional Bowhunter

With the new influx of traditional shooters it is obvious that they must be kept up to date with the terminology and definitions which are out there for us as Bowhunters and archers. With this in mind I have decided to help guide these poor souls by sharing my wisdom with others. Hope this helps...

BRACE HEIGHT - Inserted by the dentist who decides if you will look like Chuck Adams or not

STRING - Tied from bow tip to bow tip like a guitar to make noise

NOCKING POINT - A certain location on a door

NOCK - Knock spelled wrong

NOK - Still spelled wrong

TREESTAND - A group of trees, usually fir, birch or poplar

SAFETY BELT - Holds your pants up thereby protecting you from arrest

BOW FACE - Smile made on the bowhunter when he makes a good hit

UPPER LIMB - What pulls your bow string back

LOWER LIMBS - What moves you from target to target or what gets your ass moving when you see a bear!

SHELF - Where you put your broadheads and shooting gloves after use

BRUSH BUTTONS - What you leave hanging on the trees after being lost in the bush

SHAFT - Located on male bowhunters. Self-explanatory.

BROAD-HEAD - What you get when you win a 3D-shoot

FIELD TIP - Cash given to a kid in the field to retrieve your arrows

FLETCHING - What was once the wings on a turkey

TRAJECTORY - The speed and direction you go after being slapped by a grizzly

CAST - The distance the bow is thrown by some people after they miss a target

REST - What the Jungle Cat needs after climbing a ten-foot hill

RISER - What you get when you wake up around 6:00 am to go hunting

BOW TIP - What you give your bowyer for doing a find job making your bow

BOW TIP PROTECTOR - Your wife...when she hears that you are going to tip your bowyer

SILENCERS - Your wife and her friends when they find out how much you paid for your new bow
