Wokingham expected the three points and thats exactly what they got. Chalfont arrived at Stag Meadow having lost all five of their league games this season and rooted to the bottom of the table. Steve Mellor could afford to leave some players on the bench and field a slightly under-strength side, which in the end did the job. Town started the match the better side having most of the early chances, taking the lead after about 15 minutes when Craig Wall fired home left footed, a superb finish and his first goal for the club. Chalfont did have their moments though, hitting the underside of the bar after a characteristic defensive cock up, and missing a couple of headers when in good positions. Towards the end of the half Chalfont took a grip on the game and Wokingham were begining to look second best, but luckly half time came at a good time. Town emerged from the dressing room more determined and dominated Chalfont in the final 45 minutes. Wokingham had a whole host of good chances and could have another 3/4 goals if it wasn't for some tame shooting. But with only a 1 goal lead there was still a certain amount of tension on the terraces. It wasn't until the final few minutes that Puckett added the second goal after a good counter attack move that the supporters could relax.
