Wokingham 1 Molesey 2, 22/8/00, league

After opening day disappointment away at Tooting, Town were determined to get some points on the board at the first home match v Molesey. In a similar story to saturday Town took the lead but went on to concede two goals and lose the match, the winner for Molesey coming very late on.

Wokingham started the game with the same team as saturday other than youngster Alan Inns coming in at centre back for Alex Leacock. Despite this change Molesey always looked more likely to score and came close on a number of occasions early on, Town's defence in disaray at times with last gasp blocks saving the day. The game was not completely one sided though as Gary Blake again was looking impressive up front with good hold up play. James De Fraine was again superb in centre mid, showing a work rate that should be emulated by the rest of the team.

Slightly against the run of play it was Town who took the lead. A free kick from the left was swung in and met by the much critisised McCoy who scored his first goal for the club with  a great header. Hope emerged that Town could take heart from this goal and begin to dominate the game, although not quite succeeding they did manage to hold on until half time.

The lead didn't however last long after the break, a Moelsey player found space on the left and crossed low for a striker to finish at the near post. The game to  and frowed without creating uch excitement until late on. Two players were sent off as the game became a bit bad tempered. First a Molesey player recieved his econd red for a sything challenge and then Wokingham sub Chris Rimmer recieved his marching orders after raising his hands to a Molesey player as the ref began to lose control.

A bitter blow then came for Town in the final minute. Flasher Walker the ex-pro and famous non league player pounced in the Wokingham box after they failed to clear, and his low shot trickled aganisingly into the net via a post. It was too late for Wokingham to salvage anything so they have to look to the thirs game of the season to get their first points.
