With Marlow having only picked up 1 point from their last 10 games and Wokingham having put in a good performance only 2 days previous, the form book suggested a Town win. Therefore any shrewd Wokingham fan would have predicted the opposite as Steve Mellor's team stayed loyal to their completely inconsistent tag. How Town can play so different 48 hours after the Edgware win is behond me, admittadley Marlow were a much better team but Wokingham can at least safely claim they are not boring.

The game started with Marlow dominant. Their blond haired no.11 looking dangerous attacking from midfield and showing some of the pace that the Wokingham team lacks. Marlow scored after about 25 minutes with a lucky goal. The ball was pumped into the area, Freeman the Wokingham goalie came to punch the high ball only to miss it and see the ball drop into the net, a typical comedy non-league goal if ever there was one. Town themselves showed sporadic nice touches only to lack the final ball in the last third and must have counted themselves reasonably lucky to equalise on half time. A similar goal to the first one where keeper failed to claim a corner, the resulting scramble finshed with Puckett firing home from close range.

The second half was all Marlow apart from a couple of Wokingham corners and the odd attack. Marlow's second came from a misjudged Mitchell head back to Freeman which a Marlow forward capitalised on. Then as Wokingham pushed forward in search of an equaliser and began to look like scoring Marlow got their decisive third. The lack of a left back in the second half was the major cause of at least two of their goals, the Wokingham defence was streched leaving Marlow players free in the centre to score from crosses from the right.

Any report on the match should not be without a mention for the referee. He was bloody appalling. He failed to control the players who became increasingly frustrated as the game progressed. He booked hundreds, some for little or no reason and it was a miracle that only one player saw red (Town centre back Mitchell towards the end). This referee should be banned.
