Puckett turns away after celebrating with the fans Town's third goal

Wokingham were good today. With nearly a full strength team out there are little teams that can stand in Town's way and so it proved to be. With Puckett roaming behind strikers Fearon and Soares and the ever impressive Mitchell back at centre half after suspension, Town took to their task well and were unlucky to go in at the break with nothing to show. Almost the whole of the first 45 were played in the Edgware half with Town stringing together some magical attacks with one touch passing. Wickens was playing well in centre mid with Walkington despite having to come to terms with the appalling pitch which only just survived a mid morning pitch inspection. Notable chances for Wokingham included a mazy run by Howell down the left before a shot that was saved. Walks also nearly squeezed the ball home after he broke into the area only to be tackled. Puckett had a shot blocked by a last ditch tackle after finding himself in acres and Mitchell headed over from a corner. Then towards the end of the half Mitchell found himself in space about forty yards from goal. The ball stuck still in the mud and sat up to be hit, the ensuing rocket cracked the upright; only inches away from a possible goal of the season. " I couldn't do that again if I tried " Mitchell said the the fans as he went in for half time.

The inevitable flurry of goals came soon after the break for Town as Mitchell rose twice in the space of 5 minutes to head two goals from crosses. This champagne football from Wokingham was celebrated by Mitchell's Klinsman dives. Town's pressure continued and when a corner was cleared the ball was worked out to Walkington on the left. His deep cross was seemingly drifting out of play until super Puckett brilliantly kept it in and square it to Fearon on the goal line to complete the formalities. 3-0 and Wokingham were crusing.

With a comfortable lead Town took their foot off the gas and were made to pay, Edgware got an equaliser and then went on to miss a number of other chances to bring them back in it. Although the game did even out for the last half hour there was only ever going to be one winner.
