Scorers : Puckett 41, 87 Tarring 69
Wokingham hadn't played for a month due to postponements but any fear of lack of match fitness was proved unfounded after this superb away win. Barking who had only lost 1 of their last 18 games seemmed like tough opposition at the outset and looked dangerous in the early stages with some menacing long throws into the box from their number7. Town weathered the initial storm and created some half chances of their own as the first period wore on. Soares and Fearon could have put Wokingham in front but it was Barking who came the closest. A great save from Freeman kept out a Barking header from close range after another one of their long throws.
The second half saw Wokingham take control with some brilliant conter attcking play. Campbell's pace and dribbling, Puckett's magic and Odey's brute force and tireless running were all too much for Barking. Wokingham had a number of good chances to kill the game notably from Soares and Odey but they failed to take them. They had to wait until later on until substitute Spencer Tarring could make it safe, finally stabbing the ball home after a bit of a scramble. Town weren't helped by a muddy goalmouth which managed to stop a number of long range shots even reaching the goal !
As the celebrations on the terraces were
under way, Wokingham got a dubuious penalty which Puckett thumped home
to signal a team celebration with the now jubilant fans. Barking grabbed
a consilation goal in injury time which they probably deserved in all fairness.
