The Offspring's Self-Titled Album was originally released by Nemisis in 1989, and was the band's first release. Copies of the record were scarce and the album was released again in 1995 by Nitro. The lyrics contain more violence and destruction here than in any of the other records, but the band says the words are not to be taken seriously. Especially in the song Beheaded, Noodles says the song was written just for the hell of it and it does not reflect on any intentions or lifestyles of the band.
Also, Dexter says that late 80's punk was all about international issues. Songs of war, especially, were written on this release, as the band strongly voiced their anti-war opinions in songs such as Jennifer Lost the War, Tehran, and Kill the President.
