![]() The pictures on this page were not from the show I was at. Obviously, an outdoor concert would not be this dark at 4:45 pm! |
At 3:30, The Living End took the stage. I would say they were about the same
as The Flys, in that they both kicked ass. The Living End played their version
of Tainted Love, originally by Soft Cell. It was really good, and it got
the crowd rocking. During their show, the band invited the people in the grass
to come up and fill the aisles of the pavilion seats. Then, two songs later
asked everyone to please clear the aisles. As you can imagine, no one moved, and
security had quite a time clearing everyone out.
The Offspring took stage at 4:45, with everyone but Dexter out on the stage. As the crowd started roaring, the band played the drum cadence to Americana, moments later, Dexter came on to the stage, and the crowd roared its approval.

We
all went nuts when they played Bad Habit.
A couple of songs later, Noodles and Greg started to play Bad Habit, which again got the crowd in a frenzy. The place was probably as loud as ever when it came time for the 'Stupid Dumbshit Godam Motherfucker' part, as we were all anxiously waiting to take part in that.
Another song that got everyone going was Gone Away, which kinda surprised me. It's a great song, but I didn't expect such a loud reaction on it. After a few more songs, we all took an Intermission. Later on in the show, the band closed with Self Esteem. Obvious that there would have to be an encore, we waited noisily, and The Offspring came back out and played Why Don't You Get A Job?. After a few more songs, they closed with Feelings.
Unfortunately, we didn't get to hear them rip on the Backstreet Boys as they normally do, as they never even brought the name up. The show was hosted by a radio station, and that might be part of the reason.
All the songs The Offspring played were from Smash, Ixnay, and Americana. They didn't play any from their self-titled or Ignition, although I was hoping they would play Beheaded, because they just re-recorded that for the Idle Hands soundtrack a few months ago. Still, however, The Offspring proved to be the best there is and ever was.
Here is a list of the
songs they played:
From Smash:
Nitro
Bad Habit
Gotta Get
Away
Genocide
Come Out and Play
Self Esteem
