Night Rhythms

Alicia awoke to the heavenly smell of coffee, even though her clock said it was only 3:30 in the morning. Sitting up and rubbing the sleep out of her eyes, she stretched and looked around seeing him in the sitting room. Figuring that she wouldn't be able to go back to sleep, she swung her legs over the side of the bed and stood up. She stumbled to the kitchen for some coffee, pouring some in a mug, and walked to the sitting room, smoothing her knotted hair down as she went. She stood in the doorway, sipping her drink as he looked up at her.

"You are awake." He said without looking at her.

     "Yes . . . I couldn't get back to sleep."

He looked up at her and a hint of a smile crossed his lips. "You're wearing my shirt."

She looked down and saw that he was right. She felt a staining blush cover her cheeks. "I'll go change and have it washed . . ."

"No. You may keep it." He tried hard not to let his eyes run down her body, but they did anyway, savoring the sight he saw. "I have never seen it look better on anyone." He didn't mean to say it aloud, but it was too late to take it back.

The embarrassing blush changed from a rosy pink to a flaming red at the compliment. "Thanks." She said quietly and walked into the room. Setting her coffee down, she pulled a chair over to the desk and after retrieving her coffee, sat down next to him. She felt small when she sat down, in awe of the sheer size of Mark. She reached for a magazine and flipped through the pages.

Mark suddenly found himself unable to read the words of his book. No matter how hard he tried, he couldn't help but steal quick looks at his tiny angel. The shirt hung loosely on her delicate shoulders and fell past her hips to mid-thigh. His eyes ran down the length of her long pale legs, gently muscled and causing the skin on the palms of his hands to tingle with the ache to touch the smooth skin. Her waist was small, breasts round, and hair loose and shining. He remembered when he had awoken with her in his arms and how well the two of them had fit together. He remembered the heavenly feeling of her breast in his hand, his body curved around hers, and the fragrance of her flooding his senses.

He bit his lip and closed his eyes, feeling himself become aroused at the thoughts. Excusing himself he walked to the dark kitchen, grasped the counter edge, lowered his head and squeezed his eyes shut. He could not take advantage of her. Not here and not now. He would leave but he had said that he would stay with her and he would keep his word. After he was more composed, he went back to the dark sitting room. Alicia looked up when he drew near, noticing that the way he stood was a bit different than usual.

     "Are you ok?"

He paused for a second before responding. "Yes." She nodded at his response and returned to reading.

He moved back to his chair and sat down, picking up his book. The two sat there for the rest of the night, enjoying each other's company. They didn't know that wild rumors about them were already flying, getting both of them in deep trouble.
