Alicia paid the cab driver and turned toward the arena that she had just left half an hour ago. Val had enough nerve to take her to a restaurant, even though she repeatedly told him that she did not want to go, then flirted with the pretty redhead they had for a waitress! Her anger rising, she had slipped out of the restaurant booth as he talked to the waitress and called a cab to take her back to work.
She made her way to the building and flashed her pass to security and headed back to the doctors' office, ignoring the turning heads that looked at her.
'Word travels fast.' she thought.
She found
that she was stomping when she had finally reached the office. The
doctor looked up to see her standing in the doorway, an angry look on her
face.
"I take it that
the date didn't go well?" He asked.
"It wasn't a
date!" She said, wanting to shout. The doctor only shook his
head and turned away with a smile on his face.
She sat down
in a chair that was set up against the wall, burying her head in her hands.
A memory came back to her and she looked up at the doctor.
"Do you know
everyone who works here?"
"Just about
everyone. Why?"
She stood up
as she talked. "Well . . . I'm looking for a man, all in dark clothes
and is really tall and, well I don't really know how to explain him . .
."
"Alicia, there
is only one man I know of that works here and fits that description."
"Who?"
The doctor was
hesantent to tell her. The Undertaker was bad news and he didn't
want to see the small girl get hurt. And furthermore, what did she
want to know about The Undertaker?"
"The Undertaker."
Alicia blinked.
"Who?"
"The Undertaker,
but stay away from him! I don't know why in the world you would want
to know anything about him, but if you went out looking for him while he
was in character, I don't even want to think what the results would be."
Alicia shuddered
at his harsh words. She wanted to ask what his character was and
why he advised her to stay away from him. She knew that soon her
curiosity would win her over and she would look for the man, wanting answers.
Her chain of
thoughts were broken when a man stumbled into the room. She and the
doctor got to work, but the man's unusual name kept running over and over
in her head.
The Undertaker
stood outside the office, leaning against the stone wall, listening to
the conversation inside. He had seen her return to the arena, without Venis.
She had stormed past him in her rush to get back to work, leaving the light
trail of his perfume on the air. Once she was in the office, he glued
himself to the wall beside the door, listening to the conversation.
She had been
addressed as 'Alicia', but the only name he called her was angel.
She was inquiring about him and receiving warnings for answers. She
now knew his name, but he was angry at the fact that she only knew him
as his stage name and character. The show had just ended and people
everywhere were packing up boxes to be stored in trucks. He had already
showered and changed and had made a decision when he saw her enter the
arena without Venis.
If anyone was going to drive her to the hotel, it would be him.
