Night Rhythms

Alicia and Val were driving down the highway talking over the noise of the radio and the wind racing into the car through the open windows. Alicia’s watched Val through the tint of her sunglasses as he talked. They had both talked with enthusiasm, but she had found herself wishing she had taken her own car. Leaning back against the seat, she remembered the events last night.

She had been trying to open Val’s red eyes, trying to see the damage done by the bright light. When he decided to corporate and opened his eyes, she could tell that his vision would be fine. What bothered her was when she had been looking at his eyes, she noticed that he was looking at her prone position as she knelt in front of him. It bothered her that he was looking at her like that, but she dismissed it as nervousness and continued to check his eyes. When she told him that he would be fine, but was going to spend the night at her house since his vision wasn’t good enough to drive yet, she saw his eyes slightly glaze and a chill ran through her. Showing him to the guest bedroom, she said that they would leave early tomorrow so he could go to the hotel and get his things. She had said goodnight and closed his door.

Sighing and running a hand through her loose black hair, she turned and headed back to her kitchen and grabbed the flashlight and opened the door to her deck to inspect the damage. A couple of potted plants had been knocked over and the dirt was spilled all over the deck. Turning the lights on to illuminate the deck and picking up a broom, she began to sweep up the spilled dirt, she stopped and let the broom fall from her hand. She had been so frightened that she didn’t even hear the broom crash against the wood of her deck.

Alicia looked back at Val who was drumming his fingers against the steering wheel with the beat of the music. She knew that Val didn’t write it, and she thought that Val probably didn’t even know anything about it. Looking at the racing road in front of them, the haunting words running over and over in her mind.

‘I am waiting for you, my beautiful angel

The Undertaker could see Venis’s flashy red car in front of him and with some effort, he managed to get directly behind him. He fought the urge to ram his car with his when he saw that Venis had, once again, ignored his warnings and had his angel with him. He saw Venis look in his rear view mirror and see him. Venis smiled evily at him and set his arm on the back of his angel’s seat and drive away quickly, daring him to follow. He knew that his truck was no match for the car and did not follow them.

"That wasn’t a very smart move Venis." he hissed. "Once we get to the arena and you’re busy with a match, I will take back what is rightfully mine."
