This page is for surely one of the best Triumph models the T150V Trident.

I bought this bike in 1996 from a friend of a friend. I was looking for a Bonnie when I heard that this bike might be for sale. Since the only Triumph I had had before was a Cub, I was a bit wary of buying a Trident. This was no doubt due to the various stories of Tridents being temperamental, greedy on petrol and reluctant to hold on to their oil.

I can state that this bike has been much better than I expected in every area. Very oil tight , smooth, burns no oil, handles well and is quite simple to maintain. I was relieved to find it is very much like a bigger version of the cub and since it has electronic iginition in some ways it is easier than the cub which was forever needing re-timed. I haven't had a Bonnie so I can't compare but I don't reckon it could beat this.

The two pics above show the bike pretty much as I got it (after a bit of polish)

This is the bike now. The only changes are addition of chainguard, indicators, seat recovered and cloth catching petrol leaking from one of the carbs.

I'm sure the seat is wrong as after recovering and fixing it properly it was well short of the tank as shown. I have compromised by moving it along on its fixings but I'm still not happy. Perhaps someone could tell me if this seat style was fitted to the T150V.

Update Feb 99 - after laying up for a good 6 months I can't get it started at all. The bike had 'wet sumped' from the oil tank but I drained the sump and returned the clean oil to the tank. After at least 1/2 an hour of right leg exercise I gave up in a disgruntled sweaty mess. It was firing on odd occasions sufficiently to tease me to keep on trying. I'm not sure if tickling all 3 carbs is causing flooding, but it was OK before. The spark on all bores seems fine and petrol is reaching all 3 so I'm stumped. I recall after replacing the head gasket a while ago it started easily first or second kick for a while before reverting to being piggish. Any ideas to help starting a triple in general?
