Graham
seals move?
Richard
Graham could be on his way to Second Division new boys Rotherham United
on a free transfer. Rotherham boss Ronnie Moore has invited the 25 year
old to take part in pre-season training at Millmoor, after he refused to
sign a one year deal at Boundary Park, where he has been since leaving
school. Graham wanted long term security but the club were reluctant to
give him this as he has only played 30 times in the last two seasons. Before
his injury setbacks he played for the England under-21 side and was tipped
for stardom. Rotherham are keen to add experience to their newly promoted
team, however they also have a tight budget and can't afford the gamble
not to take off. Graham, himself is convinced that his injury problems
are behind him, however the fact that Moore wants him to join pre-season
training before signing him suggests he needs to be convinced of his full
recovery.
Contract
news
Scott
McNiven is still wondering what the future holds, after being transfer
listed for not accepting a two year deal. He commented:"I will just have
to wait and see what develops." He has agreed to play on for the club on
weekly terms, however it could turn out to be a big blow for the club as
he has made more than 150 appearances for the Latics and is still only
21. His weekly deal will put him in the shop window and there is no doubt
that a number of clubs will be checking him out when the new season gets
under way.
Youth
side win
The Latics
under-15 side got off to a flying start in the Foyle Cup in Northern Ireland
when they beat Derry and District 2-1. They came from behind to level through
winger Paul Armstrong, then Craig Fleming headed a dramatic last minute
header. It bodes well for the future!
