Today's Headlines

Many thanks for all the cards and best wishes you have sent to BBZ. Here's hoping for a fruitful holiday's and a prosperous New Year. Gary.
Teamtalk Oldham Brentford left it to the last kick of the game to salvage some Christmas cheer after a never say die display. The Bees battled for every ball but rarely looked like piercing a resolute Latics' defence. That was until the 94th minute when Martin Rowlands got on the end of a speculative cross, controlled and drilled the ball into the roof of the net. The Bees had gone behind in the 54th minute when a cross shot fell kindly at the feet of Mark Allott who fired home over the already committed Olafur Gottskalksson. In an often fiery clash Ray Lewington's men refused to give up and managed to take a point from the game, although Oldham will again feel hard done by that they didn't pick up all three.
Sports.com Brentford snatched a last minute equaliser to share the spoils in a 1 -1 draw with Oldham Athletic at Griffin Park. The game got off to a slow start and the first real attempt at goal came on 14 minutes when home captain Paul Evans free-kick into the box found Michael Dobson and his header was easily saved by Latics keeper Gary Kelly . The first of five bookings of the game came two minutes later when Evans for the Bees was yellow carded for a foul. The visitors first effort at goal came after 18 minutes when a David Eyres long range effort was held under the crossbar by the keeper. After 25 minutes the Bees almost opened the scoring when a cross from the left by Paul Gibbs found Scott Marshall in the box and his close range header was well saved by Kelly.

The Bees continued to dominate and Gibbs went close with a left foot strike which just missed the target after 27 minutes. Almost immediately Martin Rowlands forged his way through the Latics defence and with only Kelly to beat he scuffed his effort and the keeper easily saved. On the half hour mark Eyres' 25-yard strike was brilliantly beaten away by keeper Olafur Gottskalksson at full stretch. Two minutes later a free-kick by Evans into the visitors box was met by Marshall and his bullet header from distance flew just over the bar. Eight minutes from the break Rowlands almost caught out Kelly with a lob, but the keeper held the ball just under the crossbar. Three minutes later Mark Innes crossed from the left and Matthew Tipton's diving header from eight yards flashed wide of the left hand post as the visitors almost broke the deadlock. But on 54 minutes the visitors took a shock lead when Mark Allott picked up a loose ball 12 yards from goal and easily beat the home keeper with a powerful drive.

Two minutes later the Latics keeper Kelly made a fine save when he parried away a powerful Gibbs free-kick. The Bees continued to pile on the pressure, striving for the equaliser, and deep into injury time they got their deserved goal when a cross from Michael Dobson eluded the Latics defence and Rowlands, at the far post, smashed the ball home to score with virtually the last kick of the game.
