Oldham Evening Chronicle SHERIDAN
OUT
Latics midfield general John Sheridan
will miss the game against Blackpool at Bloomfield Road tonight due to
flu. His place in the starting line-up will go to Mark Innes, who has recovered
from a sore toe. Innes' inclusion will be the only change to the squad
which travelled to Cardiff last weekend. The team will be:- Kelly, McNiven,
Holt, Duxbury, Rickers, Innes, Allott, Dudley, Hotte, Adams, Graham. Subs:-
Tipton, Whitehall, Miskelly, Futcher, Tait.

boss Andy Ritchie has no new injury worries and names an unchanged squad
against Blackpool. The Latics have picked up four points from the last
six to move off the bottom of the table and he said: ``It is vital we keep
the run going.'' But he warned they could face a backlash after fellow
strugglers Blackpool were thrashed 5-0 on Saturday. Ritchie added: ``It
is a big game for both clubs. ``They are not having the best of times at
the moment and we must make certain we keep them down there.'' ``They could
lift themselves or still be hungover and we will have to be on our guard.''

Striker on
trial
The Latics are giving a trial to a striker
from local side Failsworth Town, and 25 year old Wayne Jackson will be
hoping to impress. He will spend the rest of the week with the Latics squad
and Ritchie has initially commented: "He has been scoring goals on a regular
basis and from what I'm told, he is certainly worth taking an extended
look at."
Rugby at Boundary
Park
The Latics have negotiated a deal with
Oldham RLFC which will allow them to us Boundary Park for their 1999/2000
season games. The Rugby League season has recently ended but starts up
again at Christmas this year and will run until June 2000. The deal means
that the Rugby Club will pay the Latics rent based on the number of matches
played and should help ease the financial worries at the club.
Boss' spying
mission
Andy Ritchie is planning a spying mission
on the Latics FA Cup opponents Chelmsford to check them out ahead of the
crunch game. They play in the Dr. Martens League southern division, which
is three rungs below the Latics in the League. Ritchie has said: "we can't
afford to take anything for granted. They have everything to gain and we
have everything to lose. To them we are the big fish and make no mistake
they'll be up for the game. We just have to make sure we do a professional
job which means no surprises. We will prepare in the same way as we do
for any other game."
