TV deal on way

Oldham could be in line for a cash windfall as a result of the negotiations taking place over Nationwide League TV rights. The rights to show live Football League games in the future are being bid for just as they were for the Premiership. Negotiations are taking place between top broadcasters and the Football League regarding the contract and competition for the deal looks set to be intense. That is good news for clubs like Oldham who stand to take a small percentage of the winning bid. The Premiership contract was recently sold to BSkyB and ITV and the BBC also gained the rights to FA Cup coverage along with Sky. The two deals totalled almost two billion pounds. The Football League rights are not expected to fetch anywhere near that amount but clubs can expect a small windfall. A decision is expected within the next fortnight.
Rovers deny old boy signing
Tranmere Rovers have denied today that Wigan striker and former Latics ace Stuart Barlow has signed for them on a free transfer. Some reports this week were suggesting that a deal had been struck, but according to a spokesperson for chairman Lorraine Rogers, who spoke to TEAMtalk, this is not the case. The 32-year-old former Oldham and Everton striker has been hotly tipped to move to Prenton Park and has described it as "a dream move", but with nothing officially agreed as yet, we await further developments.
Letter from Matt of Oldham Hi Gary
Will the redevelopment of the stadium, incorporating the rugby club mean that we have to have it half blue and half red? Or will it remain Oldham Athletic's ground which they play in? It seems to me to be that the ground is being improved for permanent use by both the teams. Surely then if it becomes the 100% permanent home of the rugby club too they won't want it to be all blue and covered in OAFC white seats. In my eyes changing the ground that radically would be a disaster. We already have a very poor quality pitch by the end of the season which can't do home form any favours. I am not happy with the ground sharing arrangement at all. What has been OAFC's home for over 100 years will be shared with a 3 year old rugby club? Was there no alternative place for them to play? I don't know, I can't stand rugby anyway, I think it's a stupid game. Have you got any info on what's actually going to happen? I am worried about what's going to be done to our ground. Come to mention it, do we really need extensions and improvements anyway? We get about 5000 supporters per match in a 13-odd thousand capacity ground. Local derbies attracted more I know but there's only Wigan now. If you know anything about any of this Gary and can shed any light I'd be grateful, the worry is cheesing me off.
Bye for now,
Matt!
