Physio quits!

The Latics are looking for a new physio in the wake of Alex Moreno quitting Boundary Park to join Huddersfield Town. The popular Moreno, 31, lives in Denby Dale, only six miles from the Terriers training ground. He joined Oldham five years ago, moving from Preston North End, where he had been first team physio. A chartered physiotherapist with a degree from the University of Teeside, Moreno worked part-time in rugby league at Bradford and Leeds while practising at St.James University hospital in Leeds. He left the NHS to take up the post with Preston.Moreno said: "I am sorry to be leaving Oldham because it is one big super family, but this opportunity is too good a career move to miss." "I have a young family, with another baby due this month, and the move to Huddersfield will mean a lot less travelling."
He added: "I shall miss everyone at Oldham, the support I have had from the chairman and manager, the staff and players, has been memorable."
Andy Ritchie is full of praise for Moreno's effort, reflecting: "He has been great for the club and I have enjoyed working with him as a player and, latterly, as a manager."

Duo limp out

Teenagers Danny Boshell and Ryan Sugden have both limped out of training with injuries. Midfielder Boshell, who forced his way into the senior side last season, has a hip problem while Sugden has twisted an ankle. Neither injury is thought to be serious and both players are expected to resume training next week.

Latics disciplinary hope

The Latics are hoping to build on their new disciplinary image when the new season gets under way. The Latics boasted one of the best in the second division in the last campaign, and it must have contributed heavily to the club's on-field revival. Only two players were sent off in 51 games, Mark Hotte seeing red for a foul in the FA Cup at Preston and Matthew Tipton was dismissed for violent conduct at Millwall. Additionally the Latics only picked up a respectable 55 yellow cards.
