This was taken in Mauna Kea State Recreational Area, which is on the side of Mauna Kea, just west of the turn-off to go up to the summit. We hiked up to the top of a hill (rather steep, I might say) and had our picture taken by the leader of a Cub Scout Troop (Troop 42 - Mountain View). Andrew and I stupidly tried to run up, but after running for what seemed three weeks (but was actually more like 30 seconds) our bodies decided to rebel, and we had to rest a while. Remember this is at about 7000 feet, so there's not as much oxygen as at sea level.
