Brown was Pittsburgh's fourth round pick, 67th overall, in the 1986 entry draft...was re-acquired by the Penguins in August 1997...Canadian Major Junior Player of the Year in 1987...played in 1989 All-Star game...picked up 49 goals in 1989 while playing with Mario Lemieux...spent the majority of the past six seasons in the International Hockey League...has tallied 167 goals in his erratic NHL career...playing on the second power play unit didn't intimidate many goaltenders, but it did yield three power play goals.
PLAYING STYLE:
Brown's cockiness and post goal celebrations made him an enemy of many NHL goaltenders early in his career, but Brown has now grown up...previously relied upon to score goals in his first stint as a Penguin, Brown has now been thrust into a defensive mode, and has adapted well...playing most of the season with another scrap-heap player, Robert Lang, the majority of the season did not help his offensive totals, but Brown's value to the Penguins is invaluable.
