Titanic

TITANIC

This movie was one of the best that I have ever seen. Director James Camerons' attention to dipicting every aspect of this historical disaster is unsurpassed. What a set. What a movie. The eerie opening of the movie with the live shots of the Titanic set the tone for things to come. The aged Rose telling her story was wonderful. The acting was, as comedian Adam Sandler would put it "not too shabby". Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet meshed together very well as the ill-fated lovers Jack and Rose. They made you laugh, cry, and touched on every emotion in between. If you do not lose it emotionally in the final scenes betwwen Jack and Rose, please check your pulse.

I also loved Kathy Bates as the "Unsinkable Molly Brown". She showed those rich snobs what class really is. The class struggle story was well done in this movie. Jack and Rose were fighting their own battle of the classses as was every passenger on the Titanic. The ship was set up like society. The upper classes holding their formal gatherings on the top floors of the ship on down to the slaves stoking the fires of the huge steam engines below. This was enough to sink the Titanic in itself. It is certain to sink humanity. Well, enough preaching.

The three plus hours of the movie flew by for me. It was one of the best films that I have ever seen! My rating is an "A" or 9.7
