October Sky movie review...

October Sky is a film based on the true story of Homer Hickam, a coal miners son who was inspired to rocket science by the Russian launch of Sputnik. With the help of his teacher Mrs. Riley and his true friends, he sets out to design a rocket. His pragmatic father fights him every step of the way wanting him to work in the mines like himself.

This movie is very well done and ends up leaving you feeling inspired. It is really a feel good film. Jake Gyllenhaal as young Homer turns in an outstanding performance.

My rating A or 9.4
