Surya at the 2000 Grand Slam!

Event Information:

Event Format:

The 2000 Grand Slam is a team event with pairings. There are 8 superteams, each consisting of one lady and one man. Each competitor will skate two programs. The two "superteams" with the highest total after everyone has skated will move on to face each other in a "Head to Head Super Final". All skaters will also do an exhibition, along with Dorothy Hamill (USA) who was invited to skate solely in this portion of the event.
Apparently, all pairings from Tier #1 skate both their competitive programs on October 5th, and all pairings from Tier #2 skate one of their competitive programs on October 5th, while skating the other on October 6th. (Thus making the results of the event impossible to determine after one night of skating) On October 6th everyone will do their exhibition. Below is a listing of the pairing and the members of the two Tiers:

Notes on Surya's Performances:

ROUND ONE:
For Round One, Surya skated to "Cancao do Mar" by Dulce Pontes from the "Primal Fear" film score. She wore her LP dress from the 1998 European Championships. Her elements included a Double Axel-Half Loop-Hop-Triple ToeLoop, Forward Spiral into a Triple Salchow, One-Footed Backflip, and a Triple ToeLoop. Her only mistake was a fall-out on her Half-Beillman spin, which she actually covered up quite well!

ROUND TWO:
For Round Two, Surya skated to an unidentified piece of music that sound like African ryhthms. She landed a huge Triple Salchow (one source says it was a Split Jump-Triple Salchow-Double ??? Combination), a Double Axel, a nice Layout Camel Spin, a Triple Toe, a Triple Loop (one sources says this was a Triple Salchow), a Traveling Split on the Ice, and a One-Footed Backflip.

SUPER FINAL:
For the Super Final, Surya skated her Technical Program from last season, Exotica & Duel of the Fates from the Phantom Menace soundtrack. According to sources, she changed her program to include the following elements: Double Axel, Split Jump-Triple ToeLoop-Triple ToeLoop Combination, Triple Salchow, One-Footed Backflip.
