MARK PHILIPPOUSSIS has been banned from buying any more cars until he
wins a grand slam tournament under an incentive deal struck between him
and new coach Peter McNamara.
The fast server with a penchant for fast cars had sold most of his stable of
almost 20 vehicles, which included a number of Ferraris.
But McNamara said today he'd made a friendly deal with Philippoussis that his
next car purchase would be as a reward for winning a major tournament.
"Cars are out. No more cars. He's not allowed to buy a car unless he wins a
grand slam, that's the deal we have," McNamara said.
The deal, however, hasn't gone exactly as McNamara planned, with the sneaky
Scud buying some two-wheeled machines.
"It hasn't stopped him buying motorbikes. I think I'll have to put the deal on
motorbikes as well," McNamara said.
