Semeka on the Court...

Semeka started her basketball career like a cork popping out of a bottle on New Year's Eve…Explosive and unpredictable…Set a then-rookie record for most points in a game with 24 in her career debut against Mississippi…Figure was also was her season high…Not shy, she cupped her hand over her ear in an "I can't hear you" taunt to the Thompson-Boling Arena crowd in the second game of the season (Louisiana Tech) imploring them to raise the roof with noise…One of the original three Meeks - Chamique (Holdsclaw), Tamika (Catchings) and Semeka (Randall)…One of the Meeks led the Lady Vols in scoring in 37 of 39 games in 1998…Semeka was the leading scorer on three occasions…Scored in double-figures in 33 of 38 games…Was third on the team in scoring and averaged 15.9 ppg…Scored a total of 604 points - second most ever by a rookie behind Catchings…A strong rebounding guard, Semeka grabbed 200 boards (5.3 rpg), including 108 on the offensive end…Was UT's top rebounder four times…Grabbed a career-high 13 rebounds against Rutgers in the NCAA regional semifinals…Snagged a rookie record 102 steals on the year…Seventh-best total all-time for a single season…Had a career-best seven thefts against Old Dominion…Injured her shoulder in the game against UT-Martin and was held to a career-low two points in just six minutes of playing time…Missed the next game versus Vermont due to the injury…Is her toughest in crunch time - scored 20 points against North Carolina in the Mideast Regional Final come-from-behind victory…Semeka picked up a bushel basket of honors her first year, being selected to a variety of teams: NCAA Mideast Regional All-Tournament, Associated Press honorable mention All-America, SEC All-Tournament…She was tabbed a unanimous selection to the All-SEC Freshman squad and was chosen to the Coaches' All-SEC second team…Was also named to the Northern Lights All-Tournament team… Earned Top Defensive Player and All-Tournament team recognition at the Marriott-Big Apple Classic Tournament…She was awarded the Holly Warlick Best Defensive Player trophy at season's end.

Semeka off the Court...

Semeka is majoring in speech communications...Would eventually like to work in that field in some capacity…Has an eye toward the women's professional leagues as well…Enjoys coaching on the youth basketball circuit…Placed her name on Trinity's Merit Roll in both her junior and senior years…Sang in the school choir in her first two years…Served as president of the Jazz Reachout Club…That organization devotes its time to helping underprivileged children…Doesn't take much time off in the summer, either, as she fills the role of volunteer camp coach…Lists the epic legend Beowulf as her favorite literary work…Has one sister, Lachon, 30…Semeka Chantay Randall was born Feb. 7, 1979, in Cleveland, Ohio..Her mother is Bertha Randall.
