Introductions: My wife and I driving home one day were talking. We had been out clubbing when I noticed a woman and made the comment I thought my wife could take her in a wrestling match. My wife replied "Explain wrestling matches to me, I mean the different types. We talked for some time about the subject and then she said " Would you post what you have told me on my website for all the wives that may be interested in this but, are not sure what they are doing?

Well, this is it a little introduction as I know it, to Women’s Wrestling. I’m not an authority on the subject just a guy who loves it. I have had a passion for the sport for over 20 years, but never been to a match. This little article is to help someone who would like to get to know the sport better do so. If I get one or more of the terms wrong please let me know because I want to get to know the sport better myself.

Ok, lets talk women’s wrestling, we will discuss pro-style, amateur-style, catfights, apartment house, and ultimate.

(a wrestling ring is a square made of cables covered in vinyl or canvas with the bottom being a padded canvas)

(Wrestling attire can look like a one piece swimsuit but, can vary from wrestler to wrestler)

Pro-Style:

We begin with my favorite Pro-Style, Pro-Style can be fought on either a wrestling mat or in a wrestling ring, With Pro-Style the wrestlers usually wear wrestling attire and wrestling boots. The holds are quite Complex and require several hours of school to master. The range from the side head lock to the atomic bomb. There is a referee and two or more wrestlers. The winner comes to the woman that can pin her opponents shoulders to the canvas floor called a mat while the referee counts to three 1.2.3 (the three count) Today many matches as seen on television are planned out from the beginning but, that may not always be true. The outcome is planned several weeks in advance and the love-hate relationship is like an adult soap opera. All said it is style my favorite of all the styles.

Amateur:

Amateur wrestling can be found in most all colleges, amateur wrestling is almost always done on a mat and not in a ring, there are only two wrestlers at a time with a referee and sometimes judges. The ladies wear singlet and wrestling shoes. It to has a complex array of holds and points but can win as pinning your opponent maneuvers as well as pinning your opponent. There are very few girls working their way through college on wrestling scholarships. But any women that wrestlers for fun and not for money could be called an amateur.

Apartment House:

Apartment House wrestling really made its start on the scene of wrestling in the 70's. Unlike the professional style and amateur-style it was really not a sport but a way to fulfill fantasies for those who not only enjoyed women wrestling but lingerie. It was usually photographed in an apartment or a motel room somewhere undercover. The women were posed and dressed in lingerie and most likely barefoot. The one thing about Apartment House wrestling is that there was no wrestling at all but only photos of women in different holds. Luckily the world of apartment house wrestling lives on even today. NOT.

Catfights:

Catfights are one of the hardest ones of the video to find. There are several companies out there that advertise catfights on videos but catfights are ones that are true to live. When two women reach that straw that breaks the camels back, their boiling point and the fur fly's. The attire they wear is anything at the time it takes place anywhere and anytime, houses, street corners, or bars. They got their name because when to women (usually amateurs decide to fight in anger anything goes hair pulling, scratching, kicking, and biting) there is no training except survival.

Ultimate Fighting:

Although around for sometime now ultimate fighting is relatively new to women's fighting. I'm not real sure of the rules or style so here is what I know. There are two women and a referee the rules are fairly simple, just about anything goes kicking, boxing, wrestling or anything else. The match is over when one woman gives up because of a submission or she is unconscious that is why you may see this called extreme fighting. The girls usually wear excite wear sports bra and trunks and are barefooted, except for karate pads on their fists and feet, I only know of one company doing this but, I'm sure it will take hold soon. The fight in a caged up ring or a pit, there is nothing fake or rehearsed about these matches.

THE FOOD GROUPS:

I call them the food groups because this section covers oil, mud, or anything else you can get dirty with. There is goodness knows how many wrestlers in the pit at one time they start dressed in high heels and very elaborate costumes, they strip down to either nothing or a small swimsuit and go for it. I don't see it and I mean, "I don't see it." There is so much mud you can barely see the wrestler never the less the moves they are making, and I can guarantee there is no scientific wrestling going on here. It's not my style of preference, but to each is own.

Editorial

Well, there you have it wrestling in a nutshell, well a very brief nutshell there are a lot of great sites that go more into detail so check some of them out. Remember some of this information maybe wrong I'm not an expert and I don't pretend to be. I hope it helps and if it doesn't at least maybe it was fun looking at the pictures till next time, see you on the mats.
