Shane will be always remembering for
taking the penalty that ‘won’ the 1989 Connacht Minor Final. In those days he
was better known as a forward and indeed he made his Championship debut at Full
Forward against Leitrim in June 1992. He rejoined the panel as a goalkeeper
later in the nineties. On August 19, 2000 he joined an elite band of eight men
that have led Roscommon to All Ireland Football glory when he led the Junior
team to success over Kerry. Along with his All Ireland Junior medal, he holds
Connacht medals at Minor, Junior and Senior levels.

forward line until switching to the centre half back position in an FBD game
against Mayo in Ballinlough in January 2001. Francie held that position for the
