PICKWICK CRUISING CLUB
A Newsletter of the Pickwick Cruising Club

Tim Cook - Secretary/Treasurer February 29, 2000

First Meeting of the new Millennium

The first meeting of the new Millennium for the Pickwick Cruising Club (PCC) will be on Saturday, April 8, 2000 at 10:00 am on "B" Dock at Aqua Yacht Harbor on or near the Serendipity II.   This weekend will not conflict with Easter Sunday or the Pickwick Yacht Club's Racing Schedule.   We have been kind of lax with our newsletter for the past few months, but hopefully things will get back to normal.   Several things have happened over the late Summer and winter months.   As we get together during this new millennium for fun in the sun let us remember some of our members still need our prayers and support.   And for those of you that don't know yet, Christy Roberts is no longer available; she and Mike Shepard tied the knot October 16, 1999.   So congratulations to both of them.

Raft-up locations

Several people have suggested several raft up spots for the new millennium.   The raft-up schedule has not been completed at this time in hopes that everyone will give us the best locations or locations they wish to raft-up at during this current season at the first meeting.   Also, remember if you arrive at the Raft-Up location and no one is there; don't leave if that was your intention to raft up.   Go ahead and drop your anchor someone will be along sooner or later to raft-up.   Remember you get there when you want to, and you leave when you want to.   Some of us might be a little more anxious than others, but everyone will get there in their own sweet time.

2000 Dues

The Pickwick Cruising Club's Treasurer does not see any need at this time to go up on our dues, but we do need to start collecting our dues for 2000.   Our dues are only $20 a year and that is 6% of the PYC Dues.   So mail your dues in now.   If you don't want to write a check, you can pay with cash at the first meeting.   We will pass out the 2000 Membership cards as your dues are collected.   Raft-up cards will be distributed later.

PCC Web Site Update

The PCC Web Site is coming along very well, however we need good photographs from our members to put on our Web Site.   We have received email from as far away as Canada to our north, Boston to our east, and California to our west asking about our Club and commenting on our members boats.   We have the capabilities of scanning your pictures into the computer and we will get your photographs back to you as soon as possible.   If you have your own Web Site or are trying to get one up and running, we are sure Tim would try and help you.   Our Web Site address is http://www.pickwickcruisingclub.com.   Some of you probably didn't know that we have our very own domain name.   Now it is simple to get to our website, and easy to tell someone else how to get to it.   The PCC Secretary will continue to maintain our site for free.   We also have a new email address, which is [email protected].   Check out your Club's Web Site and give your Webmaster some feedback.

Newsletter

Remember folks, anyone who would like something to go into the Newsletter, need only send us the information and we'll get it out to everyone.   Fill out your information sheet and send it to us so we can get the roster completed for everyone.   If you misplace or forget your Raft-Up Sheet and need to know where everyone is going to be on a particular weekend; there will be copies posted at the State Park Information Office, State Park Marina Office, and at the Cafe Bulletin Board at Aqua Yacht Harbor Marina.   Pass the word, we are off and cruising.   Summer, friends, and fun are just around the corner and you don't want to miss any of it.
