
precision has always been present in the southeast, although it is much more popular in the midwest and new england where ice time is easy to get and there is a large interest in the sport. precision is just starting to pick up in the south, but it has always been around in georgia.
after the stone mountain ice chalet closed down, members of the teams that skated there found themselves without a team and without ice. not wanting to give up the sport, the skaters formed new teams, or moved off the ice. practicing in school gyms and churches, with a few on ice practices when ice became available, the tenacious group of skaters never gave up. today, all the teams are still together, and two are the current ISI WORLD CHAMPIONS.

Tiny Bursts is the AFSC youth team. they formed last year. all of the skaters are under 12, and the ony compete in ISI competitions. They will be competing in Knoxville, TN later this year. Last year they placed 1st in their first competition, the Atlanta Classic.
High Voltage is the AFSC Intermediate team. Previously, they have been a dominant team for several years in ISI. they are the 1996 ISI World Champions in both short and long program. the girls range in age from 10-16. the above picture was taken in Seattle when they found out they won. High Voltage also placed first in short and long program at the ISI Winter Classic in Huntsville, AL. At Easterns this year, they finished second in the silver round- a wonderful showing for their first year.
Quantum is the AFSC Junior team. the team was formed during the 1994-95 season, after the close of stone mountain. they were national competitors in 1995, and final round competitors at easterns in 1996. They were also the 1996 Winter Classic champions. At the Fraser Mid- America competition, their first of the season, they placed 4th and 5th in the long and short programs respectivly, and at easterns this year, they skated to a fourth palce finish in the silver round.
Cold Fusion is the AFSC Adult team. under the name Pain in the Ice, the team was undefeated in ISI competition. They are the current ISI World Champions in the adult division. many skaters on this team commute remote places throughout the state and Tennessee for practices. their dedication paid off. cold fusion skated cleanly at easterns and recieved a glowing critique from the judges (they had no competition, so they exhibited for a panel of judges). they are gearing up for ISI Worlds in boston this august.
currently, the atlanta teams are just begining to work toward next season. our precision teams skate year round, and we compete in both USFSA and ISI sanctioned events. precision is a great way to improve your skating, strength and endurance. our program encompasses skaters of all ages and ability levels. precision is a wonderful, unique experience, as anyone involved will tell you. there is nothing quite like it. if you are interested in skating with us, or just want more information about our precision program, please contact me via email
