5/24/05 - District Playoffs
- Thomas JeffersonCONGRATULATIONS TITANS. 1 down, 1 to go. Thomas Jefferson returns to Titan field tonight for a rematch from just one week ago to the day. Last week we beat them 2-1 and they were coming prepared to battle. A battle it was as the Titans held on and fought right down to the last second. Tonight we played a full 80 minute game and it paid off as we beat Thomas Jefferson 1-0 in the second round of the District Playoffs. The lone goal for the night came off of a cross by Dan Fischer to the middle and Ben Edwards was there to finish it off an put it away to put us up in the game in the first half. We marked Seth Jackson up on Townsend again tonight and that was the difference as Townsend was a non factor. In the second half we came out and took it right at them as we continued to attack and control the game. We had several opportunities to put this game away but the shots would hit the upright instead. Tonight we stepped up and played as a team. Hats off to Cory Jasek tonight again as he went in on the outside for an injured player and played his heart out. Riley Landolt played well for us tonight in goal as he logged his third shut out for the season. Tonight was our last game of the season and the game for the seniors on our home field. I must commend all of the seniors as they stepped up and finished the game strong as we ended the game with all 10 seniors on the field at the same time fighting for the TITAN Glory. It was a fun and tense game to watch right up to the end. Now on Saturday we will travel to Sioux City to play Sioux City North at Sioux City North, at 1:30. This will be the third time in three years that we will play Sioux City North at Sioux City North for the Sub State Championship. The third time has got to be the charm. We need to play like we did tonight and we need to believe in ourselves. This is the last leg keeping us from State, and that is our ultimate goal for the season. Please join us on Saturday and cheer on your TITANS. I also want to Congratulate Brett Epperson as we have moved him to fill the final spot on the roster and will travel with the Playoff team as we work our way to state. Brett continued to work very hard all season and never gave up. Congratulations Brett. |
