5/19/07 - Sub State 1st Round - ADM @ Adel
On the road again, that is all we will see from here on out is the road.  We are road warriors throughout the playoffs this year as we work our way to state.  Today we traveled to Adel to play ADM.  It was a good game and a physical game for a while and at times they were certainly showing that they wanted to advance more then we did.  In fact just 3 minutes 15 seconds into the game on a nice crossing pass they score the first goal of the game.  We don't panic though and I am proud of how we fought back and continued to get stronger as the game went on.  We started to dominate the game toward the end of the first half, then with 8 minutes left in the first half Nate Dreager sends the ball to the middle of the field.  Cory Jasek finds himself behind the defender and goes in one on one with the keeper.  The keeper comes out and Cory places the ball into the net.  We go into the half tied at one.  They showed signs of tiring toward the end of the second half so we tell them to go out, play hard, move the ball around, make them run, and we will keep a sub rotation going to keep us fresh.  It worked, as the second half went on you could tell they were really tired.  We had several attempts on goal that should have been in and would have iced the game.  Instead we would go high or wide.  Then 19 minutes in Cory plays the ball in, it bounces off the defender and again Cory is all alone with the keeper.  Keeper comes out and Cory does a nice little chip shot up over the keeper and gets his second goal of the game.  They have a couple attempts on us, but over all defensively, with Evan Summy, Brandon Duffy, and Chris Navarrete, we turn them away time after time.  Good job defensively today, that is what it will take to continue the advance toward state.  Good sub rotation off the bench today with Brett Epperson, Ryan Cook, Nate Jones, and Roberto Gaytan, allowing us to stay fresh on the top and on the outside.  We hang on get the win and earn the opportunity to go on the road again Tuesday night back to Adel.  We will play Atlantic, who beat Clarinda Academy in the earlier game today to advance to the quarter finals.  Join us on Tuesday for a 6:30pm game back at Adel.  Good day, great game, & GO TITANS.
