2005 Titans
5/19/05 - St. AlbertsWe travel across town tonight to play cross town rival St. Alberts to finally get in a game that has been rescheduled twice due to weather. We play a solid and hard first half and are things are looking good except for one thing. We take a 2-0 lead into the half and that always scares me. In soccer it is one of the worst leads you can have. We come out the second half and start off flat footed and they come ready to play. They score their first one off of a corner kick and now they are in the game and they can feel it. I am looking for someone to step up an spur the troops but we don't have time to do it as they continue to come at us. They manage to tie the game then we get called for a penalty in the box and they manage to take the lead due to a penalty kick. We can't muster up the drive to answer and they walked the winners and the city Champs. This is no more bump on the track and now we need to get back to being focused and ready for the playoffs. We will have Saturday off, then will play the winner of the Thomas Jefferson and Sioux City East game on Tuesday at 7pm at home. We finish the regular season 7-6 but we enter the playoffs at 0-0. We know what we are made of, we know what we can do and how we can play. We need to reflect on the playoffs from last year and come in ready to play. We are now two games away from advancing to state and we need to stay focused and concentrate on one game at a time. Thank you for all of your support during the regular season and look for you to join us on Tuesday as we start the next chapter. JV was on the short end tonight as well as they we not able to muster the drive to finish the season out strong. They lost tonight 1-0 and finished the season 7-2-3 which is the best JV stand since 1999. They are the TITAN future and we look forward to them coming back next year. Congratulations on an overall great season, see you all at the year end dinner and have a great summer. |
