2006 Titans
4/24/06 - Mt. Michael What a perfect night for soccer, 72 and slight breeze out of the north. Mt. Michael from Elkorn Nebraska came to town looking to repeat last years win against us that sent them on their way toward an undefeated season and a State Championship. Overall we pretty well dominated the whole game and were able move the ball at will and we communicated better then we have all year. We proved again tonight, if you communicate well, you posses the ball, and you manage to score. Early in the game our worst enemy was us. Riley Landolt plays an excellent game with several great saves, and Zane Brugenhemke was given the opportunity to come in and log the shut out and save. We are able to get some playing time for everyone tonight excluding Zach Duysen who we held out due to an injury from the St. Alberts game on Friday. Hopefully we will be able to get Zach into the game tomorrow against Riverside. We got in some subs that really stepped up tonight to were our level of play did not drop, in fact in some cases it even picked up. Brett Epperson got in tonight and probably played his best game as a Titan. He took control of the midfield, won the 50/50 ball and together with Evan Summy made a great combination. We played some attractive soccer tonight and it was fun to watch. We focused on the quick touch tonight and it worked, in fact it worked well. We scored two goals tonight in the second half as Pablo Navarrete and Dan Fisher put the moves and combinations together, you can't ask for it to be done any better. Our first goal came in the first half off a set play where Logan Stichler send the balls back door and Evan Summy was there to go up and head the ball into the back of the goal. It was something to watch. Defensively we shut them out and our defense, Brandon Dufy, Alex Seliak, Alex O'Neil, & Evan Summy worked together to shut everything down. Even Chris Navarrete was back on the field at defense tonight. We subbed him in for Alex O'Neil to keep them both fresh at the sweeper position. Tonight was one of our better performances. Tomorrow night, Tuesday, Riverside will come to town. This game over the years has proven to be very unpredictable. We don't expect tomorrow to be any different. Please join us again tomorrow as we play Riverside starting at 4:30 with JV. JV is looking to play again, they have been off now for a while. |
