Three of four players drowned their discs in the lake at at hole 3 of Central Park I, with only Rich Norris keeping his dry. Rich, at 2 under par, held a one stroke lead over Jim and Doug after nine holes. Even though Rich had a hole-in-one on number 12, he was only able to manage a par round for the day. Everybody had a five or a six on the score card as the course claimed its victims. But par was good enough to best the field of four as Eric finished two strokes back and Jim and Doug tied at three over par.

Rich left quickly after his victory, so a picture from the past will have to suffice
